 About Maureen Nelson
I have been assisting people in career exploration
and job search for over 10 years, as a workshop leader, career
counselor and resume writer, and now as a coach. I have been trained by
the very best: Dr. Marty Nemko, Marcia Bench, and the faculty at John F. Kennedy University, from which I received my master's degree in Career Development.
BACKGROUND
Before becoming a career
counselor, I worked in publishing, web technology and corporate training. I believe my understanding of
content development, graphic design, marketing, and public relations makes me a better coach and resume producer. I've reinvented myself numerous times in my career, and I share many of the lessons I learned with my clients.
CURRENT
Besides my private practice in Walnut Creek, I serve as Field Editor for Career Convergence,
the online magazine of the National Career Development Association and I
manage the Oakland Career Center during the week. As a long-time business communicator, I am also involved in the public relations, marketing and advertising communities, through projects, professional organizations and volunteer work. Though I'm able to work effectively with clients from just about all walks of life (from prison inmates to vice presidents), I notice I have particular connection with those in creative fields, technology and business.
